Natural Disaster Risk Reduction

Main objectives:

The specific objective is to address prevention, mitigation and preparedness to natural hazards in ACP States, focussing on the following four priority areas:

  • mainstreaming of disaster risk reduction;
  • risk identification and assessment;
  • early warning systems and communication on DRR;
  • risk transfer and integration of DRR into recovery.

Expected results:

  1. Improved resilience of ACP countries to the impact of natural disasters
  2. Better preparedness of the population in disaster-prone areas
  3. Reduction of cost of response in the event of natural disasters

Mode of implementation: the program is implemented by the World Bank (specifically the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery) through an administrative agreement.

Beneficiary countries: ACP countries.
